CovetedList may not be psychic, but it’s a Web site that knows what its users want to wear.

The personalized shopping Web site is in its start-up phase, and the University of Florida has the opportunity to beat other schools in a registration competition.
CovetedList is a personal styling network and shopping platform that customizes clothing selections based on your body, personal style and budget, according to the network’s marketing manager, Chelsea Barber.

CovetedList teams at UF, the University of Georgia, Florida State University and the University of Tennessee are competing to get the most registrations in one month, she said.
Members use a special code to register for UF with CovetedList. To qualify as a winning school, universities must surpass 1,000 registrations. The final competition is then between the qualified schools.

UF CovetedList is hosting a closet swap on Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. to celebrate the launching of the network and raise interest among students. The event will be held at the Alpha Delta Pi sorority house, 831 W. Panhellenic Dr.

Attendees are urged to trade unused clothing with others. Event proceeds benefit Children’s Miracle Network, and any unclaimed clothes will be donated to Haiti. Tickets can be purchased in advanced for $4. They are $5 at the door.

CovetedList is supported by a variety of retailers, including BCBG, Bloomingdales, Banana Republic, The Gap, Igigi, Gaiam, Northface, Macy’s, Old Navy, Piperlime, Saks Fifth Avenue, Yoox.com, Fashion Chateau and Couture Candy.

Each retailer offers discounts and promotional codes through CovetedList that match the user’s store preference, and new businesses are joining every day, according to Barber.
The platform supports more than 450 combinations of body types, attributes and styles. Barber said this variability means that no one should ever get the same styling results.

Users sign up for the network by entering their information and UF’s registration code. They are then free to “covet,” create and recommend outfits to other users. A “coveted” item is placed in the member’s online closet. There is no membership fee, according to Barber.
Because the network is in the Alpha phase, a limited number of users can peruse the Web site. These members have the privilege to make suggestions and take satisfaction surveys, Barber said.

Additional members become active once CovetedList is in the Beta phase.
CovetedList Connoisseur Elizabeth Hebeler, 20, is a member of the UF marketing team for the Web site. She believes the downfall of most online shopping is that it isn’t personalized, and customers risk buying clothing that doesn’t fit their body type or personal style.
Hebeler, a public relations major, said CovetedList solves this problem by making outfits, compiling closets and personalizing every step of the process.

Kasi Martin, another UF CovetedList marketing representative, thinks the network has the opportunity to become the main site for online shopping. Though it is geared towards females, she said CovetedList could cater to males as well.

UF CovetedList plans to have more events in the future, including a fashion show and a styling workshop.

To register for the online shopping network, visit http://www.covetedlist.com. UF’s code is CLCUF.

New Spring Trend: Exposed?

The Spring Collections of many
designers launched not too long ago and there are many interesting trends that hit the runway and may or may not hit our closets. What do you think of this trend?
Designers ranging from Christian Dior to Fendi to Marc Jacobs to Dolce&Gabbana all showcase a different spin on the growing trend of exposed brassieres. Will you wear it? And if so, how?
Some of the designers just threw a blazer and left it open, while others, like the picture to the left, threw a sheer fabric on top. Others just used a hint of lingerie in their pieces. How much is too much? Let us know what you think!

Golden Globes: What We Learned

Hollywood isn't like the runway. There isn't a generic body type for the Red Carpet. When watching the Golden Globes and listening to the Fashion Police after, we can all learn something from the way these celebrities dressed. Various body types were shown the other night and it's easy to find the best and worst dressed lists. Take tips from the comments and from your own perspective by looking at the pictures of these powerful, classy, and beautiful women. One of our favorites was Penelope Cruz. She knows how to show off her figure and turn a black dress into something that resonates with you. Sign up for CovetedList today and use the code CLCUF to find out what works specifically for your body so you never end up on a Worst Dressed List! :)

Keep Warm in Style!

As we experience the coldest temperatures ever here in Gainesville, make sure you don't sacrifice your style or your warmth! Great jackets come in all kinds of colors and shapes, so there are no excuses! :) Neutral colored jackets, like the one pictured, are great because they'll go with almost anything! Pair with basic jeans or metallic tights and you are set for a great outfit. Black doesn't always have to be boring either; this DKNY jacket has a great ruffle effect. Look for small accents such as this to distinguish yourself. A great jacket that is flattering for any figure includes a belt or tie accentuating your waist, so don't worry about losing your great shape in a 'boxy' jacket either! Keep warm! Stay stylish! :)
And, Bloomingdales is having a great sale on all their coats right now, so you should definitely check it out! (This one is 20% off!)
